Chile comes out on top of Zone A to qualify for World Cup semifinals

The semifinals will be played on Tuesday March 31st. At 15:00 on field 2 England will play against USA. The other semifinal will be played at 17:00 on field 1 between Chile and Brazil Day 3 of the X World Polo Championship was held today. Around 5500 people watched the matches. Chile had to win against Pakistan if they wanted to end on top of Zone A.

The United States defeated Brazil today 9-7 at the 10thFederation of International Polo (FIP) World Polo Championship, being held in Santiago, Chile. The United States has defeated both of its opponents, Argentina and Brazil, to win its bracket and advance to Tuesday’s semi-final round, where they will face England.

Barbados win polo series

ICBL Barbados completed a clean sweep of their UNNA/ICBL Cheshire tour series when they defeated the visiting Cheshire team 4.5 to 2 in the finals at Holder’s Hill yesterday afternoon. Jaime Dickson was the hometown hero, scoring two goals to ensure Barbados remained unbeaten in the three match series.

At one point, the match was actually very closely contested, with Howard Taylor’s spectacular backhand shot from an acute angle bringing Cheshire within one goal at 4-3, at the beginning of the third chukka. But it was all one-way traffic from there as Crispin, who was having a fantastic match up to that point, turned up the pressure. After picking up the ball on the right side of the field, he coolly slotted the ball between the goalpost to make it 5-3. Seconds later, he stole the ball from Taylor, and galloped down the field before guiding the ball into the goal. He then put the match out of Cheshire’s reach, when he tapped in from close range after receiving a pinpoint pass from teammate Stuart Gill to make it 7-3.
